If you go on the Internet or send and receive e-mail, you must install an anti-virus program.
You can only have ONE Anti-Virus program on a computer!
The one we use at the Thompson Center Computer Lab is free and it is called Avast! (the expanation mark is part of the name, by the way). It's website is here.
There are other possibilities, of course.
- Another free one is AVG Anti-Virus which is here. I found this one to require a lot of "fine-tuning" to run nicely on the Thompson Center's computers and switched to Avast!
- Norton AntiVirus ($40) is here. - I am no longer a big fan of Norton. The program really slowed down the computers I had it installed on. That was also the case with my friend who is a computer pro and his clients.
- McAfee Virus Scan Plus ($40) is here.
- There are lots more.
